Here is my chat with Golden Saddle winner Tracy Killeen about her awards and nominations, Metrosexual Craze, and our new country song!!
Here is some more info on Tracy:
Known for not only her infectious smile & unique vocals, but her entertaining performance on stage, Tracy has gone from strength to strength since releasing her debut solo album ‘Back There’ at the 2007 Gympie Optus National Music Muster.
It was at this major event that Tracy achieved the #1 selling album and gave us a glimpse of what was yet to come for this authentic singer/songwriter.
In 2008 she was invited to perform at the CMA Festival in Nashville US, on the Aristo Media Global Showcase, & also on the ‘Australian Artists Tomkins Guitars Show'. On her return to Australia she performed as the opening act for multi Golden Guitar Winner Sara Storer, proving she was rapidly becoming a major force in Australian country music.
2009 brought about not only her ever expanding touring schedule at all major Festivals across the country, but saw her take home the T.I.A.R.A for ‘FEMALE VOCAL’ & achieve her first Top 5 single with ‘All Kinds of Beautiful’ on the Country Tracks Top 30.
Her eagerly anticipated second solo album, Driver’s Seat, released in May 2010 through WJO Distribution, leaves us with no doubt, with its constant theme of confidence & being in control, that Tracy is indeed behind the wheel, in the driver's seat.
Her touching first single ‘Brave’, which remained at #1 on the Country Tracks Charts for four consecutive weeks and peaked at #15 on the CMC Top 30, is a song for anyone who has ever stepped out of their comfort zone & challenged themselves. This track, along with her album, earned her three finalist nominations in the Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards of Australia for ‘Album of the Year’ ‘Single of the Year’ & ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ and her follow up second single, 'Metrosexual Craze' the fun & cheeky look at the modern dating world &, the emergence of the metrosexual male, was also a Top 5 Country Tracks chart hit, reaching #2 position, & also a Top 30 Country Music Channel favourite.
Following Tracy’s win of the prestigious 2010 Golden Saddle Awards, the annual event which recognises independent artists for their hard work and dedication to their music and industry, she was also a 2010 CMC Top 30 Oz Artist of the Year. To top off an already incredibly successful year, Tracy received two finalist nominations in the pinnacle of Australian country music, the 2011 39th CMAA Jayco Country Music Awards of Australia in ‘Maton Best New Talent’ & ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’.
“There is a real sense of direction, lyric triumph and bravery on so many levels. The songs make me feel like I’m a passenger in Tracy’s car while she is confidently driving – knowing exactly where she is heading.” Sara Storer
‘Driver’s Seat’, impeccably produced by Matt Fell, has taken this entertaining artist to another level & will undoubtedly continue to be a hit with both fans & industry alike. Don’t miss the ride!
